The short version. We republish arrest and court records that New Mexico agencies already release publicly. An arrest is an accusation, not a conviction — everyone here is presumed innocent. If a record about you is wrong, resolved, or you simply want it gone, ask us to remove it. Removal is free and always will be.
GotBusted News is a New Mexico crime news publication. You can reach us any time through our contact page. Where this policy says “we” or “us,” it means GotBusted News and the people who operate it.
Booking records come from the public inmate rosters that New Mexico county detention centers publish, and from records released under the Inspection of Public Records Act. Court records come from the New Mexico court system's public docket. Missing person records come from NamUs, the federal missing persons database run by the U.S. Department of Justice. We do not buy data from brokers, we do not scrape private sources, and we do not obtain records through anyone's login.
We deliberately do not publish certain things even when a source hands them to us: juvenile records, Social Security numbers, driver's licence and state ID numbers, and dates of birth. Those are stripped before anything reaches the site.
This is the most important sentence on this page. Being booked into a jail means someone was accused of something. It does not mean they did it. Charges are dropped, cases are dismissed, people are acquitted, and records are expunged — and the roster that a record came from does not always tell us when that happens. Treat everything on this site as what it is: a snapshot of a public record at the moment we read it.
We publish what the source agency published. Agencies make mistakes, spell names differently across systems, and sometimes list charges that a prosecutor never files. We are not able to independently verify every record, and we do not represent that any record is complete, current, or free of error.
If something about you is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix or remove it. Use the removal page. There is no fee, no “expedited” tier, and no upsell — if anyone ever asks you to pay to get a record taken off this site, it is not us. A person reviews every request and replies by email.
We are a news publication, not a consumer reporting agency, and this site is not a background check. Do not use it to decide whether to hire someone, rent to someone, insure someone, extend credit to someone, or admit someone to a school or program. Using this site for those purposes may violate the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act and other laws, and it is a violation of these terms. Nothing here is legal advice.
You are welcome to read, search, and share individual records and articles. You may not scrape or bulk-download the site, resell our data, republish it as your own database, use it to harass, threaten, stalk, dox or extort anyone, or run automated tools against our servers. We will block and, where warranted, report accounts and addresses that do.
If you create an account, we store the email address and display name you give us. If you sign up for alerts, we store your email address and the county or name you asked us to watch. If you send us a tip, an advertising enquiry or a removal request, we store what you typed into that form so we can reply. That is the entire list of information you actively give us.
For traffic measurement we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first by design: it sets no cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not build a profile of you across sites. It tells us how many people read a page, not who they were. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention.
We do not run advertising trackers, we do not use Google Analytics or the Facebook pixel, and we have never sold or rented an email address. We do not intend to start.
Your email is used to send you the alerts you asked for, to reply to something you sent us, and to tell you about material changes to your account. Alert emails include an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. You can ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it by writing to us through the contact page.
We share information with the vendors that make the site run — hosting, database, email delivery, analytics — and only to the extent they need it to provide that service. We disclose information to law enforcement only when a valid legal process requires it.
The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If you sign in, your browser holds a session token so you stay signed in; clearing your browser data signs you out. That is the only cookie-like storage we use.
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Juvenile arrest records are never published here, regardless of what a source makes available.
Advertisements are labelled. Advertisers have no say over our reporting, no access to reader data, and cannot pay to have a record removed, suppressed, or featured. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
We link to court sites, sheriff's offices, NamUs, the New Mexico Department of Public Safety registry, and the businesses listed in our directory. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they do with your information once you leave.
The site is provided as-is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or from reliance on any record published here. Some states do not allow those limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.
When we change this page we update the date at the top. Material changes get a notice on the site, and if they affect subscribers, an email.
